Job overview and responsibilities


This position serves to plan, coordinate and execute activities supporting management and execution of government affairs and civic programs that enhance the company’s position. Additionally, to provide support to the VP - State and Local Government Affairs and the entire team across the country with various priorities and objectives.

  • Support execution of government affairs and civic programs
    • Provide research, analytical, and management capabilities to support the successful execution of key corporate and government affairs projects
    • Answer and execute requests for sponsorships or donations
    • Assist in budget administration, including follow-up/tracking of results
    • Provide logistics and event management
    • Support political spending, compliance reporting, and political advocacy
    • Complete vetting process for nonprofit sponsorship requests
    • Exercises judgment to prioritize and make decisions
    • Continually seek to identify and employ methods to improve existing processes to help streamline work and efficiency
  • Provide confidential, high level and key administrative support
    • Prepare general correspondence, memoranda, and some basic presentation materials
    • Screen telephone calls and visitors: may screen e-mail correspondence
    • Process invoices, expense reports, and travel donations
    • Resolve routine inquiries
    • Schedule and maintain calendar of appointments, meetings, and travel itineraries
    • Complete projects as assigned and demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
    • Interface with all departments within the company and represent the respective leadership team in a highly professional manner
    • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
    • Other duties include assisting in development of briefing materials, updating calendars, sending correspondence, and other administrative assistance as needed
  • Provide customer assistance for key corporate, civic and government affairs customers traveling on United
    • Assist with customer travel issues; handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints (customer interactions will vary from the routine to the highly sensitive), determine the best course of action based on company policy, all applicable federal, state and local laws, and the best interest of the customer to influence the intent to fly United again
    • Work closely with Customer Care Department, Reservations, local airport officials in determining appropriate action for these customer travel issues
    • Issue and administer travel funds (including certificates and ATPs) for external partners and assist with reservations and ticketing as needed

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelors degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in an office manager role
  • Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines
  • Organize and manage projects and workflow
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally with high-level executives on a daily basis
  • Oral and written communication
  • Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Excel, Access
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Bachelors degree in Business or similar field
  • 2 years experience in state and local govt

The base pay range for this role is $64,885.00 to $84,514.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
