We are seeking an experienced Avionics AutoCAD Designer to support avionics modification and installation programs for General Aviation aircraft. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and modifying technical drawings and blueprints in preparation for DER approval, ensuring all designs meet engineering, regulatory, and installation requirements. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD proficiency, avionics system knowledge, and hands-on experience with Citation and King Air airframes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create, revise, and maintain avionics installation drawings using AutoCAD
Read, interpret, and modify engineering blueprints to support avionics installations and modifications
Prepare complete drawing packages suitable for DER review and approval
Incorporate engineering changes, redlines, and field feedback into finalized drawings
Ensure drawings comply with approved data, installation standards, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with avionics technicians, engineers, inspectors, and project leads to ensure design accuracy
Support avionics installations involving Garmin and Collins systems as applicable
Verify drawing accuracy prior to release to production
Maintain drawing configuration control and revision history
Assist with troubleshooting design discrepancies identified during installation
Support continuous improvement of drafting standards and processes
Perform other duties as required to support operational and engineering needs
Requirements Minimum 4 years of avionics AutoCAD drafting experience in an aircraft modification or maintenance environment
Demonstrated experience reading and altering blueprints for avionics installations
Prior experience preparing drawings for DER approval
Aircraft experience must include General Aviation platforms, specifically Citation and King Air airframes
Strong understanding of avionics installation practices, wiring diagrams, and system integration
Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard PC applications
High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and inspection teams
Willingness to work first shift on a consistent, long-term basis
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Miscellaneous Tool box MUST be SHADOWED and tools ETCHED. Candidates must report on day 1 with acceptable US Persons documentation per U.S. Export Control Compliance requirements.
