Mechanical Technician Supervisor (Typhoon)

Rate: 315.00 per day (LTD)
Morson Edge is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Technician Supervisor to support Typhoon aircraft operations within a dynamic operational flying environment overseas.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise with supervisory responsibility. You will play a key role in ensuring all maintenance activities are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and airworthiness within a fast-paced defence aviation setting.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Technician Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out and overseeing scheduled maintenance on Typhoon aircraft, ensuring compliance with all technical standards and regulatory requirements. You will also support team development, maintain operational efficiency, and contribute to maintaining aircraft availability.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out scheduled mechanical maintenance in line with approved maintenance programmes
• Perform inspections, modifications, component removal/installation, and system testing
• Diagnose faults and support aircraft recovery activities
• Supervise maintenance personnel, ensuring compliance with all technical and safety standards
• Maintain aircraft airworthiness in accordance with relevant technical publications and mandates
• Hold Second Signature responsibilities, verifying accuracy and compliance of completed work
• Conduct independent inspections where required
• Perform daily inspections to support planned maintenance schedules
• Ensure all aircraft and SMU documentation is completed accurately and on time
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and FOD control
• Ensure all personal authorisations and certifications remain current
• Identify and address training or competency gaps within the team
• Support Quality Assurance investigations and technical queries
• Comply with all applicable quality systems, procedures, and technical publications
• Undertake additional duties as required to support operational delivery
Skills & Experience
• Completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship
• Qualified to NVQ / ONC / OND / BTEC Level in a relevant discipline or equivalent
• Alternatively, hold a Part 66 Licence (current or lapsed) or equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum of:
o 7 years’ post-qualification experience in an operational aircraft maintenance environment, or
o 3 years’ experience on Typhoon aircraft
• Evidence of formal, recorded workplace training supporting practical experience
• Completion of relevant aircraft type training or Typhoon Q Course
