JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced sheet metal mechanic who plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces for aircraft modification in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations. Mechanics will work on the F-16 production line structures and assembly. Must be comfortable installing fasteners, drilling bulkheads, skins, and building up fuselage components. Heavy Precision drilling, Countersinking, and reaming precision holes must also be a strong suit. Must be actively drilling precision holes on aircraft! Minimum Bench work is desired. Please note this is hands on production work that requires climbing on fuselage parts, stands, kneeling, and on ladders/stands.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs routine structural/sheet metal assembly with great experience in precision drilling in the production line environment; also is comfortable with riveting, reading blueprints, and countersinking
- Determines when a structural component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme, quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair; secures necessary parts from Stores or departmental supplies.
- Consults internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) technical data, and work package instructions
- Ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of experience as a sheet metal mechanic in a production environment
- 4+ years of precision/close-tolerance drilling
- Knowledge and experience of reading and interpreting blueprints
- A preference for those who have 2+ years in aircraft sheet metal repairs
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repairs and maintenance
- Knowledge of principles and processes for sheet metal/structures assembly
- Knowledge of FAA requirements for aircraft maintenance procedures
- Ability to interpret and comprehend manufacturer and FAA-approved work package instructions; ability to inspect and assemble aircraft structures
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid US Passport
- Able to submit to a 10-year criminal background check and a clean DOT drug test record of 2 years and current levels.
PAY:
- Dependent on years of experience
- Split per diem is available to those who qualify
Shifts
- Must be able to work any shift
- 1st shift: Mon – Thurs 6:00am – 4:30pm
- 2nd shift: Mon – Thurs 4:30pm – 3:00am
- Weekend Shift: Thurs – Sun 6:00am – 4:30pm
