Job Summary
The GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Mechanic Helper supports the maintenance, operation, and servicing of various motorized and non-motorized ground support equipment. This role is hands-on, outdoor, and requires mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced airport environment.
The expected pay rate is $28/hr.

Your activities
- Operate and drive all types of ground support equipment (GSE), including both motorized and non-motorized units.
- Assist in performing preventive maintenance on GSE in accordance with established schedules and Fueling ATA guidelines.
- Support all GSE operations as required, under the direction of senior technicians or shop leads.
- Aid in the removal of malfunctioning equipment from service.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records in compliance with airline, airport, federal, provincial, and municipal regulations, including ATA and SP requirements.
- Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and security regulations, including those set out by WCB, EPA, WHMIS, airport authorities, and SP management.
- Maintain a valid drivers license.
- Keep the GSE shop and related work areas clean, organized, and in serviceable condition, report deficiencies to management.
- Fuel equipment as needed, observing all safety and environmental procedures.
- Communicate professionally with management, customers, and staff as required.
- Be proactive and self-directed, reporting to the shop leads daily.
- Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Basic computer and organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to guidelines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Your profile
- Valid drivers license
- Trade school training and or a mechanical background preferred.
- Good oral and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills.
- Willing to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
- Willing to travel when necessary for training or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required
